KUWAIT CITY, Jan 25: Police during a 2-hour intensive crackdown campaigns against violators of law in the Farwaniya Governorate have arrested 220 expatriates, including residence law violators and others wanted by law in connection with financial frauds and criminal activities, reports a local Arabic daily. Those arrested have been referred to the authorities.

Gamblers nabbed: The Hawally police recently raided an outhouse in Nugra and arrested 6 expatriates for gambling, reports Al-Anba daily. Police have confiscated from the men large sums of money, gambling tools and bottles of local booze. The men have been handed over to the authorities for legal action.

Bribe offer fails: An Asian cleaning company worker employed by the General Department for Nationality and Travel Documents recently attempted to bribe an employee at General Investigation Department to seek the release of his friend, reports Al-Shahed daily. According to a security source the man offered KD 500 and the official who was taken by surprise pretended to go along with the offer, set a trap and caught the man in the act. The suspect has been referred to the Public Prosecution. A case has been registered at the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Police Station.
