IBL Tigers, KRAHS, UNIMONI Exchange opening leaders

KUWAIT CITY, March 16: Thirteen teams were presented Friday in the inaugural round of the First Philippine Bowling Association in Kuwait – Kuwait Bowling Federation Cup 2019 Tenpin Bowling League in its new home at the Kuwait Bowling Sporting Club Complex in Salmiya, Kuwait. The tenpin tournament was unveiled by Over-all Manager Khaled Salah Al Habib who delivered an inspirational message regarding the newest and biggest bowling center in Kuwait with its 48 public lanes and 10 private lanes. The different teams that posted victories were Falcon Cargo, IBL Tigers, KRAHS, Swooping Eagles, NUSANTARA, UNIMONI Exchange and Dragon Bowlers who played bye.

The tournament kicked off Friday morning after the parade of colors, presentation of the participating bowlers from the 13 vying teams, singing of national anthems of Kuwait and the Philippines and speeches from the PBAK president Rudy de Lima and his vice-president Sonia Mathews. Invocation was led by Lito Michael and Aqeel Al Farisy, Oath of sportsmanship by Avinash Mathew, declaration of tournament open by president de Lima and ceremonial ball of the thirteen team captains.             

Over-all Manager of Kuwait Bowling Sporting Club (KBF) Khaled Saleh Al Habib was the guest speaker and briefly informed the participants, guests and spectators about KBF Bowling and Sporting Club, a six-storey building. The AMF Qubica 58 lanes with super amenities like LCD large screen, two big swimming pools, modern auditorium, two big gyms for men and women, cinema type folding seats, spacious parking areas, food court (all kinds of food chain companies, sixty deluxe room and VIP suites, individual lockers and garden top. Al Habib appreciated PBAK for choosing KBF to hold the event and committed to provide first class service. In return, PBAK president acknowledge the gratitude from Manager Al Habib for the opportunity to build a life long relationship and promised to retain the support for years to come.

The thirteen teams with their members were Asian Air Safari – Mohammad Abdullah, Farid Gabriel, Sonia Mathews, Neven Wassel, Agapito Cuadrazal, Aqeel Al Farisy, Seham Bhebehani, Aris de Guzman, Ghadeer Al Sarraf and Mohammad Karam; Falcon Cargo – Jess Tolentino, Gener Calingasan, Imelda Calingasan, Jocelyn Barros, Jhun Narvasa, Christine Moreno and Mohammad Othman; IBL Tigers – Fatima Sequiera, Ulysses Menezes, Rudolf Castelino, Nadine Dias, Jason D’ Souza, Rani Skeik, Siddarth Nair and Joel Fernandes; Incredi Bowlers  – Erick Chang, Melvin Alabado, Lito Michael, Chat Sarne, Adolfo Prena, Ruben Cervantes and Sandy Panopio;  NUSANTARA – Ahmad Fahmi Husen, Benyamin Hassan, Tanjung Gantosori, Erlisa Gantosori, Saleh Faraj, Nasser Siraj, Mousa Abdullah and Nuki Winuka; Pin Pals – Agnello Fernandes, Allan Fernandes, Diego Camilo, Raj Reddy, Neeta Fernandes, Vasant Harshan, Allison Fernandes and Avinash Mathew.

SKARZ – Melwin Isaac, Fatima Fernandes, Ignatius Fernandes, Kathy Fernandes, Lionel Mendes, Stephen Sequiera and Solomon Moras; Swooping Eagles – Alonzo Bush, Riz Roque, Darrell Sullivan, Jessica Balagat, Myrah Manalo, May Sullivan, Mona Corpuz, Clinton Cathers, Angie Bush and Danny Solis; UNIMONI Exchange – Rudy de Lima, Noe Mahayag, Yousef Ghadamfar, Faisal Saleem, Ayad Al Amiri, Ahmad Fadhil Karam, Rashid Aker Ali, John Caldwell and Mohammad Khaled;  X Strikers – Rocky Castil, Cris Carungay, Joe Presenta, Reygan Percy, Bima Nitikusumo, Imelda Daguio, Abel Nitikusumo, Ronell Valencia and Ceddie Faa; Jordan Elite Bowlers – Ali Arqoub, Ali Varghese, Basma Ammar, Colin Costa, Ahmad Sultan, Ali Hikmat, Youseg Waled and Rami; Dragon Bowlers – Ron Favor, Lester Matugas, Bing Robisa, Mustafa Ahmad, Hazel Gafero and Angelo Bautista; KRAHS – Mar Evangelista, Eden Danan, Moises Amhan, Camilo Baker, Joel Tizon, Eddie Pena, Pilar Patula, Rene Marzan and Sam Bhebehani.

One of the newest participating team, the IBL Bowlers showed its dominant force when they ravaged the Incredi-Bowlers from Mahaboulah 2,913-2,640 thus snatching the number one position and weekly team high series. True to its name KRAHS (formerly TGIF team, the first runner up of the previous league) crushed the other newly formed group Jordan Elite Bowlers 2,851-2,632 and captured the second position. The champion team of the just concluded team league, UNIMONI Exchange won two games of the three-game series against “X” Strikers (former Lolos team) 2,829-2,650, ranking third. Swooping Eagles easily subdued SKARZ, 2,806-2,451 in the second and third game and now occupying the fourth position.

In the fifth place was the giant killer Falcon Cargo (whose members were from Green Apples) surprised the Asian Sir Safari with depleted lineup, 2,670-2,518 which was considered one of the giants in the current league. Ranked seventh, eight and tenth positions were losers, Incredi-Bowlers, Jordan Elite Bowlers and Asian Air Safari while NUSANTARA recorded a win game but with low turn-out placed ninth and neophyte team Dragon Bowlers playing bye registered the lowest score of the day with 2,365 points only was the cellar dweller. Another two losers Pin Pals (2,491) and SKARZ (2,451) hold eleventh and twelfth place.          

The competing teams are supported with ‘handicap’ as per bowler individual classification and average. After the thirteen-game elimination round, the top eight teams will be playing for a two-week round robin for the championship. The league features the ‘individual event’ for the men and ladies categories. Special award will be given both to Individual and Teams’ best. For ‘Bowler of the Week’ and on the grand awarding rites special prizes will be presented to individual bowlers per class with the highest game points and highest average and for the team, team holding the Number One position for Seven consecutive weeks and Weekly High Series.
