KUWAIT CITY, Aug 7: The Residence Affairs Investigation Department officers raided a maids recruitment office and arrested 18 people and charged them with inciting domestic workers to leave the house of their sponsors, reports Al- Jarida daily. Many of those arrested had allegedly escaped from their sponsors and the latter had filed absconding reports against them at the area police stations.

During investigations the Syrian manager of the office said the total number of maids he incited to flee and then employed them on a daily wage or hourly basis was more than 100. These maids are now being tracked down and face deportation along with the owner of the office. A security source said these maids who are mostly Asian earn about 200 dinars a month.
