1,761 new COVID cases; 9 deaths

KUWAIT CITY, June 24: Kuwait said daily coronavirus cases jumped by 1,761 to 346,560 as deaths rose by nine to 1,903, according to the health ministry on Thursday. Another 1,524 people were cured of the virus, raising the total of those to have overcome the disease to 326,102, ministry spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad told a press conference. The number of people hospitalised with the virus currently stands at 18,555, with 267 of them in intensive care units, he added, revealing that some 13,771 swab tests were conducted over the last day out of a total of 2,893,320. He went on to urge nationals and expatriates alike that abiding by health precautions, mainly, following social distancing rules, is the only way to halt the spread of the virus
