15 drug addicts, peddlers held in massive raids

KUWAIT CITY, March 3: A total of 15 drug addicts and those trading in drugs and alcohol were arrested in a series of security campaigns in Farwaniya, Hawally and Jahra governorates. These campaigns were carried out in compliance with the directive of Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs in the Interior Ministry Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarah.

During the campaign conducted by Farwaniya securitymen in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, 100 citations were issued for various traffic violations, 40 vehicles were impounded and five persons were arrested for the possession of drugs. A Kuwaiti was arrested in Andalus where the securitymen found him sleeping inside his car with 19 narcotic pills and drug paraphernalia in his possession. He was referred to the Drug Control General Department (DCGD).

Hawally securitymen arrested three Kuwaitis and an Egyptian who were dancing in their vehicle when they reached a checkpoint in Salwa. The officers found one roll of hashish and drug paraphernalia in their possession. Also, a Kuwaiti was arrested in Hawally with two rolls of hashish and drug paraphernalia in his possession, while two Asians were arrested for the possession of 10 bottles of locally produced alcoholic drinks.

Jahra securitymen nabbed three GCC nationals for the possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. While patrolling the area, the officers got suspicious of a vehicle which was parked in a vacant lot as the three GCC nationals behaved irrationally. The officers searched the car, resulting in the discovery of a pack of shabu and drug paraphernalia.
