Ministry gives 1 week grace period to 2,840 beneficiaries of social aid

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 3: The Ministry of Social Affairs gave one week grace period to 2,840 beneficiaries of social aid to update their data in order to avoid the suspension of social aid, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a press statement, Undersecretary of the ministry Abdulaziz Shuaib revealed these beneficiaries did not update their data; affirming the extension of their grace period to update their data for one week.

Shuaib confirmed the ministry is keen on granting social aid to beneficiaries who did not update their data; noting their number reached 6,579 as of July 10, while the data of 1,630 beneficiaries have been completed and they have been granted social aid and 4,940 cases remained unsolved as of July.

He added the minister issued a directive to disburse social aid to these beneficiaries within two months and extend the grace period for them to update their data until the end of August.

Member of Human Resources Development Committee at the National Assembly MP Saleh Ashour said the Civil Service Commission (CSC) removed about 12,000 citizens from the job waiting list after updating the data, reports Al-Rai daily.

Ashour confirmed that updating the data and sorting the names again led to reduction of the number of those waiting for jobs while many names were frozen. The latest statistics released by CSC showed that the number of those registered to obtain governmental jobs reached 7,613 as of 2019; while 42 percent of the applicants hold university certificates and above, 40 percent are bachelor’s degree holders and below, and 18 percent are diploma holders.
