KUWAIT CITY, Oct 27: The State Audit Bureau has decided to refer 12 heads of departments and engineers of Ministry of Public Works for investigation concerning the financial violations observed in the project of sewage pumping station in Egaila area, reports Al-Qabas daily.

In a letter sent to the Undersecretary of the ministry Awatif Al-Ghunaim, the bureau denounced the actions taken by the ministry based on the recommendations of an investigation committee which was formed to investigate the lack of targeted returns and the financial losses worth KD 39.5 million sustained by the State Treasury because of the difficulties in the operation and maintenance of the station via a contract worth KD 28.7 million.

MoH officials out on bail: Public Prosecution has released former undersecretary and assistant undersecretary of Ministry of Health on bail worth KD 10,000 each and imposed a travel ban on them on the grounds of a case related to bribery and squandering of public funds through “Stuttgart” contract, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Even though the Public Prosecution had charged them with bribery and squandering of public funds based on the confessions of the main person (the briber) involved in the cases concerning financial transfers made to the assistant undersecretary, the two defendants denied the charges. According to a reliable source, the case is concerning a logistic contract signed with a company for offering services to Ministry of Health, which had expired in 2014.
