1,127 new infections; 8 deaths

KUWAIT CITY, April 18, (Agencies): Ministry of Health registered four new COVID-19 fatalities and 1,127 new infections in the past 24 hours. The Ministry’s spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad told KUNA that the death toll increased to 1,448 and total infections jumped to 256,987 since the beginning of the pandemic. He added that 1,438 patients have recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours to reach 240,465 recoveries, which make the ratio of recoveries 93.57 percent from total conducted tests.

The spokesman pointed out that 250 new patients were sent to the intensive care units, to increase the number of patients who are receiving health care to 15,074 patients. Moreover, in the past 24 hours 6,269 tests were conducted to make the total conducted tests reach 2,219,893, which make the ratio of infections at 17.98 percent, he added. The Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has spent 5.185 million dinars following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in the form of contracts that the DGCA has signed for various services. A government report, a copy of which has been obtained by the Al- Seyassah daily, states the total money approved that were allocated for the item was 25 million dinars.
