1068 referred for deportation in massive campaign on vice

KUWAIT CITY, March 11: The Public Prosecution Department launched a surprise security campaign against vice in Hawalli governorate and checked the documents of 3,437 individuals. The operation was headed by Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs in the Ministry of Interior Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali and the Director General of Hawalli Security Directorate Major General Shahab Al-Shammari.

An Interior Ministry press statement indicated 1,068 of the 3,437 people checked have since been referred to Deportation and other relevant authorities; 68 individuals were involved in residency law violations and 39 for criminal and civil offenses. 413 people were without personal identification documents, 311 marginal workers, 39 people were involved in immoral activities, 18 people in possession of drugs and 14 under the influence of liquor.

Also, 6 people were arrested for theft and 5 others for illegal entry into the country, with 130 absconders and 11 people wanted by law. They impounded 5 vehicles and recovered 10 missing vehicles. Subsequently, 2,369 people were released after convincing securitymen about the validity of their documents. Statement added the campaign will continue over an indeterminate period to rid the governorate of outlaws.

12 for deportation: A Kuwaiti citizen, a Bedoun man and eight Arabs were arrested in possession of 1.9 kilograms of methamphetamine, one kilogram of heroin, 120 grams of hashish and 6,200 narcotic pills. According to a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the Directorate General for Drugs Control (DGDC) arrested the suspects and fi led eight cases of drug trafficking against them. They have been referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them.

Meanwhile, DGDC is currently finalizing procedures for deporting 12 expatriates of different nationalities who were accused of assisting drug traders in smuggling drugs into the country. The Public Relations and Security Media Department urged Kuwaiti citizens and expatriates to report any drug trafficking and consumption cases. It revealed that the DGDC has received about 10 complaints from the public about drug use, and has referred the drug users to Psychiatric Medicine Hospital for treatment and rehabilitation.
