KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25, (KUNA): Kuwait juniors football team on Sunday defeated his Saudi rival 1-0 in a match part of Group A’s qualification round for the Asian Cup for juniors, which is currently taking place here. Team coach Abdulaziz Al-Hajri told KUNA that he was happy with the players’ performance, hoping for them to carry such spirit to the next match against Afghanistan next week. The match will be held in the Malaysian city of Shah Alam, as it will determine whether the Blue Squad will qualify to the next round.
Player Nader Al-Enizi scored the team’s winning goal at the beginning of the second half, as the final result granted Kuwait third position with six points. The team had won against Pakistan and lost to Uzbekistan. Today’s match was attended by members of Kuwait embassy in Kuala Lumpur, as Charge d’Affaire Hamad Al-Hazeem praised the team’s efforts. Uzbekistan is leading the group, followed by Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
