She was drunk: blogs; Kuwait DJ said to abuse on air

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 18: A number of bloggers on Kuwait blogs allege that a female DJ was recently drunk while on air on Super Station 99.7. Reportedly, there was a doctor on the program and the DJ was hitting on him, telling him he has good biceps. When another DJ told her she was embarrassing the radio station, she allegedly cussed on air and then they killed the broadcast. The report could not be independently confirmed. According to a blogger, the DJ was drunk on air and was slurring throughout the show. A listener suddenly called in at a time when the radio station personnel thought they were off air. The caller is said to have abused the DJ, telling her she was making a fool of herself and that she was a ‘drunk hoochie’ to which the DJ allegedly replied using the four-letter word several times. Thinking they were off air while this tirade is going on, the DJ came back on air to close the show, saying “there are a lot of haters out there who need to get an education.”

Wondering why the ugly tirade was allowed to go on air, another blogger asked “don’t they have a panel monitoring such incidents? It is either somebody aired it on purpose or the censorship system is not effective.” She said she was so shocked hearing an exchange of repulsive words on air that at first she though it was a joke until she heard the four-letter word being uttered several times. “If she was drunk the whole time, didn’t somebody think of cutting her off earlier or did they just allow her to go on for us to have something to talk about?”, the blogger surmised. One blogger, who had been to the super station before, said “the censorship people don’t just sit there watching over every word! She has only herself to blame if she gets fired, which is the right thing to do considering her apparent lack of professionalism.”

Most of the reactions to the incident were negative but some bloggers thought otherwise. One of them said his friends really enjoyed the show and they think the DJ is funny. Another claimed “it is the most entertaining show ever! I couldn’t get out of my car. Unfortunately, all the ‘you know who’ will surely use this incident to shut down the stations and turn them all into easy listening.” Someone has also speculated that “they put something in her drink so they could come up with a decent reason to fire her.” With all of these talks about the show, everybody seems to be clamoring for a copy of the controversial episode. One has been quoted as saying, “if anyone has a copy of the episode, we are offering cash for the recording!”
