WE were delighted when Minister of Commerce and Industry Ahmad Rashed Al-Haroun reaffirmed his commitment to implement the BOT projects. However, we want to know if the minister is convinced that investors are interested in these projects. People still remember what the government did to foreign and local investors when it cancelled a number of projects after the signing of contracts due to pressure from some MPs who threatened the prime minister. At the time, Kuwait lost the trust of investors.

We should not also forget the decision of the Ministry of Interior to close cafés and restaurants after midnight. The ministry agreed to issue this directive after hearing loud voices from various directions, making us live like the residents of a country under emergency rule. Anyway, we should pray to Almighty Allah to guide the minister in marketing the BOT projects. We also urge the minister to change the specified conditions for these projects to attract more investors.
