US envoy lauds Kuwait’s role in global war against terrorist acts; Sheikh Nawaf, LeBaron meet, discuss political, economic ties
KUWAIT (KUNA): First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received on Saturday the US Ambassador to Kuwait Richard LeBaron, who hailed the marked role of the State of Kuwait in the global fight against terrorism, the Interior Ministry said in a statement. The statement quoted Sheikh Nawaf as welcoming the diplomat and affirming the depth of the ties of cooperation and friendship between the State of Kuwait and the United States. “The solid ties binding the two friendly countries are crucial in the combat against terrorism with regard to the developments and conditions in the region and the world,” Sheikh Nawaf said, calling for further cooperation between the two countries namely in the sectors of information exchange, combating crime and terrorism.
Sheikh Nawaf and the US ambassador reviewed the bilateral ties in the political, economic and security domains. For his part, LeBaron congratulated Sheikh Nawaf on the return of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, after undergoing medical treatment in the US. The American diplomat expressed appreciation for the distinguished role of Kuwait in the fight against terrorism in line with efforts that have been exerted by the international community to eradicate this peril.
