MPA ready to help solve labor problems: official

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 3: Deputy Director General for Manpower Protection Authority (MPA) Badriya Al-Mukaimi affirmed that the officials of the authority are willing to give advices to people of any category of manpower in the country and solve the related challenges they face.

In a press statement, she indicated that there is a specific department in the authority that deals with all manpower issues, urging people including employers to not hesitate going to the authority in case of any problems or labor disputes.

Al-Mukaimi reiterated that the officials of the authority are always ready to receive any complaints and work on solving them as quickly as possible, adding that the authority dissuades those with labor problems from taking actions in their own hands such as going out on the streets to protest, so that they can avoid legal repercussions.

Regarding some labor protests that were held in some areas of the country, Al-Mukaimi indicated that some members of the committee in charge of labor disputes went to those areas but did not find anyone on the street. However, several individuals approached the labor relations department where they were met by an official of the department who explained the steps they need to take to receive their rights in a legal manner.
She indicated that the authority will coordinate with Ministry of Interior regarding the labor demonstrations in order for the authority to intervene in calming the situation and finding appropriate solutions.

Meanwhile, Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower Jamal Al-Dosari held a meeting with Al-Mukaimi and director of the Labor Inspection Department and other officials of the authority.
During the meeting, they discussed about the inspection procedures, the need to allot new work guidelines, intensify inspection campaigns, implement the market law strictly and implement a control mechanism for apprehending the violators in the labor market.
