KUWAIT CITY, Sept 1: Board Chairperson of Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) Rasha Al-Roumi affirmed that the quality of the operational services provided by KAC will improve with the introduction of the new air fleet, reports Al-Jaridah daily. She said KAC lost a huge part of its market shares due to the operational problems it has been facing for a long time, adding that the company administration is working on retrieving back those shares.

Regarding the company’s plans for its operational directions, Al-Roumi explained that KAC has started its internal preparations of the flights, adding that it will receive 7 Airbus A320 planes in May 2015, 5 Airbus A330 planes in September and will continue to use 6 planes in its existing fleet which are in good technical conditions. Therefore, the company will have 18 planes until 2019 after which new planes will be purchased.

Regarding the financing of the deal, Al-Roumi said she discussed with the government about the matter, revealing that KAC met with local and foreign banks to discuss their financial offers and services. She added that KAC is waiting for the government to issue a final decision about the next step that should be taken. Meanwhile, Al-Roumi disclosed that the company has received the final report from Ernest & Young Co. of the evaluation of the company’s performance, explaining that the legal and financial departments are studying the report to prepare for a meeting with the minister of commerce and industry for completing the procedures related to the issuance of the company license.
