Police lead away one of the arrested persons
70 ‘mechanics’ held in Jleeb raid

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 31: Security operatives from Farwaniya Command carried out a surprise inspection campaign in Jleeb Al-Shoyoukh, leading to the arrest of 70 persons of different nationalities — 59 of whom were arrested in mechanic shops for violating the Labor Law and 21 others for not carrying valid identification cards.

The officers disclosed the campaign will continue to track down criminals and maintain peace and order. Meanwhile, the Security Information Department has announced that officers of the Inspection Unit at the General Department for Correctional Institutions arrested a Syrian man for the possession of a mobile phone, charger and money which he intended to smuggle into the prison. The suspect hid the items in his clothes, but the officers discovered them during routine inspection before entry into the premises. They referred him to the authority for legal procedures

Police arrest ‘drifter’, 3 friends: The Security Media Department at the Ministry of Interior recently issued a press statement, explaining the video clip uploaded on various social networking sites showing a traffic patrol officer arresting a reckless driver. According to the statement, the vehicle had no plate number and the driver was arrested for endangering the lives of others as he was driving recklessly in Mubarak Al-Kabeer. Several friends of the accused surrounded the police vehicle and some of them attacked the traffic officers; thereby, giving him a chance to flee from the scene. The officers later arrested the suspect and three of his friends who helped him escape. The search for others involved in the incident is still ongoing. The department also appealed to all road users to strictly comply with traffic rules for their own safety and that of others.
