‘6,100 died of chronic ills’

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 30:  The World Health Organization declared that about 6,100 people in Kuwait died of chronic diseases from January 2014 to July 2014, reports Al-Jaridah daily. According to the report released by WHO, Kuwait lacks a national plan to deal with chronic deices such as diabetes, cancer and heart problems, which are responsible for about 73 percent of deaths annually. It also pointed out the country’s lack of plan to encourage the habit of exercise and healthy diet, adding that Kuwait does not have a system for controlling chronic diseases. The report indicated that about 12 percent of deaths among people aged between 30 and 70 are due to these diseases, explaining that 45.8 percent of the people of Kuwait fall in this category.
