Info denies reports on referring actors to the Public Prosecution

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 30, (KUNA): The Ministry of Information denied Saturday recent media reports on referring a number of Kuwaiti actors to the Public Prosecution for filming Ramadan programs without the ministry’s permission. The ministry did not refer any Kuwaiti actor to the Public Prosecution for filming their television works, which were shown during the past month of Ramadan, without the ministry’s permission. However, it referred a number of production companies to the public prosecution for violating the Audio-Visual Media Law number 61/2007, the ministry said in a press statement. The ministry expressed full respect and appreciation to Kuwaiti actors, most prominently the veterans, whose unforgettable works had significant impact and contribution in the development of Kuwaiti theatre, television, and radio, leaving an immortal mark in Kuwait’s history and audiences’ memories, said the statement. At the same time, it reiterated commitment to implement law upon all without any exception, based on its legal responsibilities and commitment, adding that companies that were referred to the Public Prosecution had applied for permission for their drama programs at the ministry’s scripts authorization committee in accordance with stipulated legal procedures. Most applicant companies were granted a script authorization under condition of obtaining necessary approvals listed in Article 14 of the executive bylaw of Law No. 61/2007.

License Meanwhile, from a hospital in London Abdulhussein Abdelredha said he has never violated the law of Information Ministry, adding “all my artistic works are only shown after obtaining the necessary license”, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Abdulhussein was dismayed by the attitude of Information Ministry and lamented “all Kuwaiti artists are respected in GCC States and humiliated in their homeland where their image and reputation are tarnished”. In the meantime, a source accompanying the prominent Kuwaiti actor Abdulhussein Abdelredha (Abu Adnan) said the actor did not undergo catheter operation, as rumored Friday on Twitter, reports Al- Qabas daily. The source explained that the photo in circulation on the social media was taken by Abu Adnan while undergoing medical checkup, and not a prelude to a catheter operation or afterward.
