Good conduct vow frees ‘royal’ - Jail-term cancelled

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 28: The Court of Misdemeanor has cancelled the one-year jail term of an unidentified member of the ruling family, reports Al-Qabas daily. The daily added, the sheikh was sentenced in absentia after he was found guilty of impersonating police and erecting a check point while under the influence of alcohol.

The court, however, obliged him to sign a pledge of good conduct for one year. The court in the new ruling said it is convinced of defense plea that the accused is young, has no past criminal record and is studying abroad and do not intend to harm his career.

Al-Ajmi jailed: The Investigation Department of the Ministry of Interior has jailed Mohammed Al-Ajmi for 10 days for criticizing the withdrawal of nationality of Nabil Al-Awadhi on his personal social networking website account, reports Al-Qabas daily. According to the daily the man is being held at the Central Prison for interrogation for posting a tweet on the social networking website criticizing the authorities.
