Customs foils bid to smuggle spying, eavesdropping items Construction worker falls to death

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 25: Customs inspectors at the Air Cargo section recently foiled an attempt by Kuwaitis to smuggle into the country sophisticated spying, eavesdropping and photography items, reports Al-Shahed daily. The confiscated items include cigarette lighters, pens and stationery. The cargo reportedly arrived from one of the Asian countries and the bill of lading listed the contents as stationery items. Police are investigating.

Worker dead: An unidentified Egyptian construction worker fell to his death from a building under construction in Abu Halifa, reports Al-Rai daily. The corpse of the worker has been referred to Forensics. Police are investigating the fall.

Expat woman deported: Police recently foiled an attempt by a New Zealand woman to escape from a hotel at the Kuwait International Airport, reports Al-Shahed daily. Without going into details, a security source said the woman was put up in a hotel because she was to be sent back to the point of origin, Dubai, for unknown reasons. However, a reliable source said when the woman arrived at the airport she was in a bad psychological state and was referred to the Psychology Medicines Hospital where doctors recommended issuing her a visa so that she can received treatment. The authorities reportedly did not take the advice of the doctor and decided to ‘deport’ her to Dubai.

Whisky seized: Security officers at the Kuwait International Airport have seized an Indian employee working for Kuwait Aviation Services Company (KASCO) for attempting to smuggle into the country three bottles of whisky, reports Al-Shahed daily. Since the Indian, has a pass and access to move freely in restricted areas, he took advantage of his position.

Son stabbed: A Kuwaiti woman allegedly stabbed her son in self-defence, reports Al-Shahed daily. A security source said the incident happened when the son came home and looked disoriented. When the mother questioned him, he turned on her and started beating her. She then grabbed a kitchen knife and warned him not to approach her and accidentally stabbed him. She then carried him to a hospital. The incident took place in Khaitan, and a case of attempted murder has been filed against the mother.

Asian cheats death: A Bangladeshi escaped death when his car went up in flames, reports Al-Anba daily. According to security sources when the car was in motion, it suddenly caught fire and the Bangladeshi managed to jump out of the moving car and sustained bruises and injuries. The car is totally destroyed.

New car stolen: Police are looking for two unidentified young men for stealing a brand new car belonging to a Kuwaiti man, reports Al-Rai daily. A security source said the Kuwaiti accompanied by his Asian driver went to take delivery of his luxury car from a local car agent. After leaving the office of the agent, the Kuwaiti was on his way home when the suspects approached the Kuwaiti and said he had forgotten to collect some documents. The man obliged but when he returned to the car, he did not find it.
