Jewellery worth KD 100,000 stolen from shop in Avenues

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 23: The Criminal Investigation Department has started an intensive investigation to arrest the person who broke into a jewelry shop at the Avenues Mall and carted away several pieces of jewelry worth KD 100,000. An employee at the shop, which belongs to the brother of a lawmaker, was surprised when he opened the shop as most of the jewelry were missing. He immediately called the Farwaniya Police Station which dispatched a team of policemen to the location. After checking the premises, the officers discovered that the thief entered through the opening of the air conditioning unit. They lifted fingerprints and obtained surveillance camera tapes to identify the culprit.

Heavy traffic at border post: Monitoring and Inspection Department of the Interior Ministry received several calls about heavy traffic at Al- Nuwaiseeb border post due to failure of the computer system, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. It took emergency team two hours to fix the fault, and traffic was restored to normal after nearly three hours, the daily added.

Wife’s jewellery stolen: Police are looking for an Egyptian man for allegedly stealing his Lebanese wife’s jewelry, reports Al-Anba daily. A police source said the Lebanese woman lodged a complaint at Salmiya police station accusing the husband of stealing her jewelry. The complaint followed a dispute between them.
