‘Parliamentary role sought to prevent theft of govt property’

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 21: Former chairman of Agricultural Plots Committee at the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) Faisal Al- Sadiqi denied rumors about the theft of the files of the companies that won the Food Security projects. He affirmed that all the files are safe, reports Al-Anba daily. He revealed that he formed a committee for confirming the accuracy of the data in those files, adding that there have been no suspicions or investigations regarding this matter. However, he revealed that PAAAFR has been reviewing the files and confirming their accuracy based on instructions given by the Minister of Oil and State Minister for National Assembly Affairs Ali Al-Omair.

Meanwhile, MP Rakan Al-Nesf affirmed that the theft of 500 files of those companies which won agricultural plots in Wafra area through a draw affirms the level of corruption in PAAAFR, reports Al-Rai daily. He stressed that the i ssue should not be neglected and has to be dealt with in a proper manner in order to resolve the mess in the authority. MP Al-Nesf said the referral of those who practice corruption in the agricultural sector to the Public Prosecution is a partial solution, indicating that parliamentary intervention is essential to put an end to the theft of State’s lands. He urged Minister of Oil and State Minister for National Assembly Affairs Ali Al-Omair to urgently report the incident and refer all employees who are involved in this issue for investigations.
