KUWAIT CITY, Aug 21: A number of Kuwaiti citizens were arrested in various places in possession of illicit drugs and other prohibited items. In detail, a Kuwaiti citizen was arrested in Fahaheel area in possession of illicit drugs. According to security sources, securitymen stopped the man for checking after sensing his disoriented state. While he was taking out his Civil ID, securitymen noticed drugs fall out from his pocket. They confiscated the drugs and arrested the citizen.

Meanwhile, securitymen also arrested another Kuwaiti citizen who did not have his Civil ID and was in possession of drugs. When securitymen stopped him for checking, they found with him a blue sachet containing illicit drugs and a wrap of hashish strapped to the back of his mobile phone. Furthermore, securitymen arrested a Kuwaiti citizen and his friend in possession of drugs in Jaber Al-Ali area. Security sources revealed that securitymen were patrolling the area when they noticed two individuals driving a vehicle recklessly. After stopping them for checking, securitymen discovered that one of the suspects did not have his Civil ID.

Realizing that they were behaving in a disoriented manner, securitymen checked them to find a brown-colored powder with them as well as three sachets of drugs inside their vehicle. In addition, securitymen arrested a wanted Kuwaiti citizen in Dhaher area in possession of two yellowcolored narcotic pills, one white-colored pill, a sharp object and five bullets. Security sources explained that the securitymen were patrolling Dhaher area when they stopped the individual for checking and discovered that he is a Kuwaiti citizen who is wanted by Ahmadi Security Directorate. They checked him to find the drugs, a sharp object and bullets in his possession. All arrested suspects were referred with the confiscated illicit drugs and items to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them.

100 kilos of hashish seized: Three Kuwaiti citizens were arrested for attempting to smuggle 100 kgs of hashish from a neighboring country via sea. According to sources, when the Directorate General for Drug Control (DGDC) received information about the intention of a three-member gang to smuggle illicit drugs via sea, a team was formed for carrying out investigations in collaboration with the Coast Guard Department. The operation was carried out under the guidance and instructions from the Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs Major General Abdulhameed Al-Awadi and Acting Director of DGDC Major General Saleh Al-Ghanam. The team managed to arrest the suspects in possession of 250 grams of hashish. During interrogations, they confessed that a large consignment of hashish was en route close to Awha Island. The officers from the Coast Guard Department rushed to the location and found a boat which contained four bags filled with a total of 100 kgs of hashish. The suspects were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them.
