Bid to stop attacks on doctors while on duty Call to boost security presence in public hospitals

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 17: Secretary General of Kuwait Medical Association Dr Mohammad Al-Kandari said they have asked the Ministry of Health to coordinate with its interior counterpart to heighten security presence in public hospitals to stop physical attacks on doctors while on duty, reports Al-Anba daily. Al-Kandari emphasized the need to take this step in order to protect the doctors, especially those assigned in casualties departments. He affirmed the association is now waiting for the response of the Health Ministry. He believes this step will solve the problem until the approval of a bill on the protection of doctors.

He also urged doctors who faced such problems to take the necessary legal action in order to protect their rights, confirming the association is ready to file lawsuits on behalf of these doctors. In other news, Board Chairperson of Kuwait Nursing Society Bandar Al-Anzi has expressed disappointment over the alleged negligence of Finance Minister Anas Al-Saleh whom he accused of ignoring their demands like salary increment, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

In a press statement recently, Al- Anzi urged the minister to quickly solve the problems of Kuwaiti nurses who have been demoralized due to their exclusion from the salary scale since 2009. He disclosed the society sent two letters to the minister regarding the issue but he has not taken any action. He warned that there will be a big movement in the coming days to demand for the rights of the nurses if the minister continues to ignore them
