Three Iranians ‘swindle’ Kuwaiti woman; police nab liquor traders

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 17: Police have arrested three Iranians, one of them a woman, for swindling a Kuwaiti woman, reports Al- Anba daily. According to the daily the suspects convinced her to invest money and assured quick returns. A security source the complaint has been filed by the victim’s Kuwaiti husband who has her power of attorney. The daily added the Kuwaiti woman invested KD 427,900 and received nothing in return. A case has been filed at the Jabriya Police Station

Liquor traders held: The Farwaniya police have arrested an unidentified youth and two young women for trading in alcohol and drugs, reports Al- Watan Arabic daily. A security source said the Farwaniya police saw the three suspects standing near a parked car in Khaitan early in the morning. When the police drove in their direction, the youth looked confused and he handed over a piece of hashish to one of the women. Police then seized from the car two bottles of imported alcohol and referred the contraband and the suspects to the concerned authorities.

Loans on illegal interest: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti and are looking for his bedoun partner for carrying out illegal financial activities, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily added the Kuwaiti was arrested on suspicion in Hawalli and at the time of arrest he was in possession of documents and dud cheques signed by various persons. During interrogation the man admitted to lending money to citizens and expatriates and charged high rate of interest on the money and as a promissory note he made the borrowers sign dud cheques to force them to pay in time.
