Move to end Brothers domination in Awqaf ‘Seraj Al-Muneer’ output weak

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 14: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs intends to abolish the Al-Seraj Al- Muneer Department which is affiliated to the Islamic Studies Sector, reports Al- Seyassah daily quoting sources. Sources said this step is aimed at ending domination of Brotherhood members in the ministry as part of the reformative steps being taken by Deputy Premier, Minister of Interior and acting Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid. Sources asserted this decision will ease the financial burden and obligations of the ministry in terms of serving the interests of the Brotherhood Movement and its members without providing any tangible benefit to the society. Sources hailed the decision and confirmed that this is a step in the right direction since it has become clear the outputs of ‘Al-Seraj Al- Muneer’ are weak and they do not meet the needs of the labor market. They added the decision will also allow the teachers of Al-Seraj Al- Muneer to choose between working in Awqaf Ministry or to be part of the teaching staff in the Ministry of Education.

They further indicated that some top officials do not cooperate properly or deal inactively with the directives of Sheikh Al-Khalid to put an end to the domination of Brotherhood members in the ministry. For example, Undersecretary Dr Adel Al- Falah went on leave for two months, from August 10 - a time when the minister gave instructions to take the necessary procedures to stop the domination of such group which depletes public funds for its own purposes and interests.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated development, in response to the accusations launched against the sons of former MP Mubarak Al-Walaan for firing gunshots recently at the house of MP Majed Mousa Al- Mutairi, Al-Walaan said on his Twitter account that he is not interested in commenting on lies, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. He said some people are accusing his sons of attacking MP Majed Mousa Al-Mutairi as though they live in a forest without law, stressing that legal action will be taken against those who falsely accuse his sons. He affirmed that MP Al-Mutairi and he respect one another. And, the Ministry of Interior has endorsed the proposal to appoint two retired security officials as consultants in the office of the minister, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting sources. Sources revealed the concerned committee has nominated former Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Lieutenant General Mostafa Al-Zi’abee and former Director General of Ahmadi Security Directorate Lieutenant General Ayed Al- Oteibi to the consultancy positions.
