All ploys fail as newly-wed girl caught in lover’s home

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12: Police have arrested a young Kuwaiti man for luring a 19- year-old married Saudi woman to elope with him just seven days after she married a compatriot, reports Al-Rai daily. According to reports the woman escaped from her family home past midnight and the parents immediately filed a missing persons report with the Saudi authorities. Investigations conducted by the Saudi authorities revealed she had switched off her cell phone but had not left the Kingdom.

However, the authorities there managed to track her incoming and outgoing calls before she switched off the cell phone and discovered she was in constant contact with her Kuwaiti boyfriend. Following this the father came to Kuwait and filed a complaint against the Kuwaiti youth, who initially denied the charge during interrogation.

The authorities let him go but put him under surveillance for a week. Police saw the boyfriend entering an apartment in Mangaf and caught him and the missing woman. The apartment was reportedly rented by the Kuwaiti youth to house the ‘runaway’ wife of the Saudi. During interrogation he admitted that he fell in love with the girl when she visited Kuwait with her family. He also admitted to urging her to elope with him and smuggled her into Kuwait by hiding her under the back seat of his car. The youth has been referred to the Public Prosecution and the Saudi to police custody.
