Machines installed to find fake cash bills

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 11 The General Department for Customs has received new equipment which can identify forged bank notes within a short time, reports Al-Shahed daily. The daily added, after the introduction of the equipment at the Abdali border post, it has been decided to equip all border posts with this machine. The sources said the machine can identify forged bank notes in record time.

Contractor wanted: The name of a Syrian contractor has been added to the list of persons wanted by the law in Kuwait, reports Al-Rai daily. This happened after the man left for Jordan after taking advance money - KD 17,000 - from a Kuwaiti who had hired him to build an extension to his house. The suspect has reportedly done little or no work on the house. Police records show the man is wanted in three scam cases worth KD 25,000. The daily added, the case has been handed over to the Interpol to bring the man back to Kuwait.

Gunmen sought: Plainclothes policemen from the Farwaniya governorate are looking for unidentified persons who shot at the headquarters of Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents or Bedoun a few days ago, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. The daily added, so far the authorities have detained for interrogation six bedoun suspects and have been referred to the Criminal Evidences Department for fingerprinting. The daily added, 15 Japanese-made vehicles have also been referred to the department for the same purpose — the vehicles which were spotted by the surveillance cameras installed on the building. It has been reported the concerned authorities have been asked to hire companies with expertise to overcome the problem of poor quality imaging in the surveillance cameras which may contribute to clarifying the type of vehicle the offender was driving to make it easier for detectives to nail the suspect.

Cops threatened: An unidentified youth has been referred to a police station for interrogation for threatening to unleash a ferocious dog at securitymen, reports Al- Shahed daily. The incident happened in near a commercial complex in Hawalli. The daily did not give more details.
