56 nabbed in Jleeb raid on seven illegal phone booths

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 7: Farwaniya securitymen arrested 37 violators of residency law and 19 expatriate loiterers during a security campaign in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area. In coordination with the Ministry of Communications, securitymen also raided seven illegal international- calling booths in the area. According to security sources, Assistant Security Director of Farwaniya Governorate Major General Mohammad Al-Enezi formed a security team in coordination with Ministry of Communications to launch a security campaign in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area. They raided seven illegal booths for international calling and arrested 56 violators of law who were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them.

250 new cameras: Ministry of Interior has approved a number of projects including a project to replace the current traffic-light system with a digital LED traffic-light system, and another for maintaining the traffic lanes on all roads in the country, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting sources from the ministry. They revealed that the ministry has approved the installation of 250 traffic cameras to cover various signal intersections and expressways throughout the country. Meanwhile, sources also revealed that the General Traffic Department has referred to the concerned department at Ministry of Interior a proposal to increase the fines for major traffic violations such as crossing the red signal, reckless driving and speeding. They said the proposal will be referred to the National Assembly for the latter to study and approve it in the next parliamentary term.
