All necessary steps taken to prepare for new academic yr 500 non-Kuwaiti teachers employed to cover shortage

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 6: Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education Affairs in the Ministry of Education Dr Khaled Al-Rasheed has affirmed that all the necessary steps are being taken to fully prepare for the new academic year. Speaking to the press after presiding over the meeting tasked to monitor preparations for the next academic year, Al-Rasheed disclosed the ministry has allocated 500 employment slots for non-Kuwaiti teachers to cover the shortage in public schools. He said the ministry is now waiting for the concerned agencies in its interior counterpart to complete procedures for the transfer of 350 visas for locally-hired teachers.

He added, “the newly-appointed teachers, whether Kuwaitis or non- Kuwaitis, will attend orientation sessions for one week to train them on technical and administration matters.” Al-Rasheed went on to say that they discussed a contingency plan in case the Interior Ministry does not approve the visa transfers or if some teachers do not report to work. He confirmed alternatives have also been laid down for the teachers who requested to be transferred to administration work or to retire, indicating all of these will be finalized at the beginning of the academic year. He asserted the preparation for the new academic year is progressing as planned, admitting a number of issues still need to be addressed like the shortage of religious education books, information technology books for grade 10 students, and topics for the primary level. He said the director of curriculums will look into these issues to ensure that everything is ready prior to the opening of the school year.

Dr Falah Al-Zuwairi, a teaching staff member at Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) and an expert on Strategic Studies says Kuwait was not affected by the dangers of the regional political conflicts because of the wisdom of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al- Sabah, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In an interview with the daily, he said, “The Muslim Brotherhood Group is a group of demons who tried several times to involve the country in the so-called Arab Spring”. He indicated that 90 percent of what the Opposition presents in the political arena are lies, adding that the new security policy particularly the decision to withdraw the citizenship of those who violate the Kuwaiti law is a necessity to bring the country back on the right path.
