Intensify efforts to reduce electrical load, says official Al-Roumi refutes rumors

 KUWAIT CITY, Aug 5: Undersecretary at the Ministry of Electricity and Water Engineer Ahmad Al-Jassar has called for intensifying efforts to reduce electrical loads during the peak period, and at the same time, admired the diligent efforts put forth by the executive committee to conserve power, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

This came at a recent meeting of the committee attended by representatives from various ministries and other government institutions, including Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC) and Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC). The officials stressed the need to hold periodical meetings to make sure the policy of preserving consumption in all government institutions is applied. A presentation was made on the rate of power preserved in two months during the peak hours, which is estimated at 19,000 megawatt/hour.

Meanwhile, Director of Hajj Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Roumi Al-Roumi has refuted rumors about the collection of passports of Bedoun pilgrims and handing over to Saudi outlet to be returned to them once they come back to Kuwait, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. He said the department did not receive any circular in this regard from the Ministry of Hajj or Saudi Interior Ministry, clarifying that the number of pilgrims this year is the same as last year - 6,400 pilgrims, 400 of whom are Bedouns. He added expatriates are not allowed to perform Hajj from Kuwait except the relatives of Kuwaitis but their number is limited to 50 maximum due to the ongoing expansion works in Makkah.
