Two young men fined heavily for raping, robbing ‘girlfriend’

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 4: The Court of Appeals recently upheld the verdict of the lower court and ordered two young men to pay KD 53,000 compensation to a girl for raping her and stealing her cell phones and credit cards, reports Al-Rai daily. Case papers indicate the victim invited her friends to a dinner party and after she went to her room to take rest, the defendants forced their way into her room, raped her and stole her cell phones and credit cards and a sum of money

2 held with liquor: Two Sri Lankan expatriates were arrested in Naseem area of Jahra Governorate in possession of 21 bottles of locally brewed liquor, says Al-Seyassah. According to security sources, Jahra securitymen were patrolling Naseem area at night when they suspected two occupants in a taxi and stopped them. Securitymen discovered that the two individuals are of Sri Lankan nationality after checking their civil IDs. They also discovered that one of them was wanted by law for his involvement in a case. Detecting the odor of alcohol, they checked the vehicle and found 21 bottles of locally brewed liquor. Both suspects were arrested and referred with the liquor bottles to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them. Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti citizen was arrested in possession of three sachets of heroin. Sources explained that Jahra securitymen were patrolling Jahra Road when they stopped a Japanese-made vehicle and checked the Civil ID of the driver to discover he is a 24-year old Kuwaiti citizen who has to be taken to the Psychiatric Hospital.
