Protect doctors - Attacks rapped

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 1: The Kuwait Medical Association (KMA) has condemned the continued attacks on the medical staff, particularly the doctors. The condemnation came following a recent assault on one of the doctors at the Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital.

A statement issued by the KMA has called on the government and members of the National Assembly to initiate necessary legislation to protect those working in the field of medical profession.

The Secretary-General of the KMA Dr Mohammed Al-Qenaie said a law to protect the doctors from assaults is a legal right to help them work in a secure and safe environment so that patients get the best services.

He added, if such a law is in place, it will also help raise the level of health services in the country. Al-Qenaie has called on the concerned authorities including the Ministry of Health to intervene and prevent such incidents from happening — repeated assaults on doctors — and create a suitable work atmosphere.
