‘Constitution guarantees freedom of all religions’ US report inaccurate: ministry

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 1: Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed that Kuwaiti Constitution guarantees freedom of religions, stressing the annual report of US Secretary of State regarding the restrictions against freedom of religion in Kuwait is inaccurate, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

In a statement while attending an event marking the 15th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s ascension to power at the Moroccan Embassy, the Director of Administration and Financial Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghanim said Kuwait is a country of Constitution, laws and institutions that work in line with directives from HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad. He indicated the Kuwaiti Constitution guarantees freedom of religions and these issues are considered as Kuwait’s internal affairs, just as each country has the right to make statements.

He said Israel is committing brutal massacres in Gaza Strip, wondering if it is reasonable that over 100 Palestinians have died during the period of truce, while air strikes are launched indiscriminately on civilians, hospitals, houses and even places of worship. As for the new finance structure of the ministry, he said it is still on the table of Civil Service Commission, there are no any hindrances in that regard.
