‘Policemen first line of defense, must heed citizens, expats calls’ ‘Minister plans major MoI reshuffle’

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 1: Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al- Khalid Al-Sabah will soon carry out a comprehensive shuffle of senior officials in various posts, informed sources say. They revealed that the minister will soon issue decisions to appoint some directors and their deputies as well as approve the retirement of several others who have already submitted their resignation letters.

They indicated that majority of the transfers and appointments will occur in the Public Security, Training, Police Education, Traffic and Rescue sectors, stressing that these procedures are aimed to appoint young people in various sensitive positions.

They explained that the decision will provide young officers an opportunity to prove their mettle and work hard to reenergize the sectors for stronger security activities. Meanwhile, Sheikh Al- Khaled carried out an inspection tour of the Traffic, Public Security and Rescue departments on Wednesday, during which he told officers that the highest authority strongly supports the security operatives, adding that the traffic issue is the main concern of the ministry.

He declared that the police stations are the first line of defense for security activities and the refuge for citizens and expatriates. He urged the officers to efficiently fulfill their responsibilities including receiving complaints from citizens and expatriates empathetically and showing seriousness when carrying out night patrols.
