UN to honor Amir for humanitarian efforts Amir congratulates citizens, expats on Eid

KUWAIT CITY, July 27:  The United Nations (UN) represented by its Secretary- General Ban Ki Moon will honor HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and present to him a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the United Nations at the high-level session of the General Assembly scheduled to take place on Sept 24, 2014 in New York City, reports Al-Rai daily.

Diplomatic sources said the Amir will be honored for his tremendous efforts in humanitarian causes and the responsibility he shoulders to relieve the sufferings of the Syrian nation, in addition to his contributions in the humanitarian operations carried out in Iraq by UN.

They added UN Secretariat appreciates Kuwait’s supportive stance toward humanitarian activities and the personal commitment of HH the Amir in the humanitarian operations in Iraq which reinforces mutual trust between Kuwait and the United Nations. In another development, HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad congratulated citizens and expatriates on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr. He wishes the general public intimacy and happiness in Eid.

In a statement, the Amiri Diwan also extended heartfelt well-wishes to HH the Amir, HH the Crown Prince and HH the Prime Minister on the advent of Eid Al-Fitr. It also congratulated citizens and expatriates and entreated Allah the Almighty to bestow peace, security and tranquility to the entire world and protect Kuwait from evil under its wise leadership.
