‘Carry fire extinguisher in car’ ‘Get regular check to avoid vehicle fires’

KUWAIT CITY, July 20: Fire engulfed a vehicle in Mesillah area due to electric short circuit and resulted in material loss but without human casualty. Firemen from Mesillah are said to have accompanied security operatives to the location and doused the fire without human injury. A case was registered. In another incident, firefighters were able to extinguish a fire that broke out in a vehicle at Dajeej. There were no casualties. A case was registered. In a statement, the Public Relations and Media Unit of General Fire Service Directorate appealed to motorists to conduct periodical vehicle maintenance with trusted mechanics and change damaged wires to prevent short circuit.

Motorists are also advised to avoid storing highly inflammable materials and keep fire extinguishers inside their vehicles in light of the recent wave of fire outbreaks in cars. Meanwhile, Deputy Director General for Firefighting and Human Resources Development and Chairman of the Personal Interview Committee for New Fire Service Courses Brigadier Khalid Al-Mekrad said the Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) will organize an open draw for applicants to the different training courses on July 23. In a press statement recently, Al- Mekrad revealed 25 applicants will be accepted for the Airport Fire Communications Sergeant Course, 40 for Fire Operations Communications Sergeant Course and 25 for Public Relations Photography Sergeant Course.
