Kuwait, Egypt bust gang ‘expert’ in smuggling drugs in medicine packs Gold jewellery worth KD 20,000 stolen; maid attempts suicide

KUWAIT CITY, July 17: An Asian housemaid attempted to commit suicide inside her sponsor’s house in Salam area. According to security sources, when the Control Room of Kuwait Fire Service Directorate received information about the incident, firefighters rushed to the location and discovered that the housemaid had locked herself inside her room. When they broke down the door, they noticed that she was trying to hang herself with a sheet tied to the ceiling fan and they immediately pulled her down. A case was registered against her.

Securitymen bust gang: Coordination between the Kuwaiti and Egyptian security authorities led to the arrest of a gang which specialized in smuggling drugs into the country hidden in children’s medicine packs, reports Al-Shahed daily. The daily added the Egyptian security sources said the main suspect operated from Egypt and informed their Kuwaiti counterparts. In Kuwait police have taken into custody a taxi driver and investigations are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang.

Grafitti written on wall: Investigations have been launched to arrest the unknown individual who wrote ‘Head of the Baath Group is in Kuwait’ on the wall of a school in Sulaibikhat area, reports Al-Seyassah daily. According to security sources, securitymen discovered this sentence written on the wall of the school and immediately summoned the officers of General Department for Criminal Evidences to lift fingerprints. Securitymen eventually rubbed off the sentence. A case has been registered to find and arrest the suspect.

Jewellery stolen: An unidentified Indian has filed a complaint with the police accusing a thief of breaking into his apartment and stealing gold jewelry worth KD 20,000, reports Al-Anba daily. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the thief.

KD 750 withdraw from bank: A Kuwaiti man, whose identity has not been disclosed, has filed a complaint with the Fahd Al-Ahmad Police Station accusing an unidentified person of forging banking documents and stealing KD 750 from his account, reports Al-Rai daily. The case has been handed over to the e-crimes department of the Ministry of Interior. In his complaint the victim said he discovered the theft when he went to one of the bank branches to withdraw the money. He was shocked to find the money was withdrawn in five installments.

Woman attempt suicide: An unidentified Syrian woman who tried in vain to end her life by consuming a large quantity of medicine pills was rushed to the Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital and given stomach wash, reports Al-Rai daily. According to security sources when the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior was informed about the incident paramedics rushed the woman to the intensive care unit of the hospital. It has been reported the victim’s family saw her unconscious inside the apartment in Salmiya and called help. Police will interrogate the woman to know the reason why she wanted to end her life. A case of attempted suicide has been filed against her.

3 minors stabbed: Three unidentified minors who were allegedly stabbed by two people during a fight have been admitted to the Jahra Hospital, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily quoting security sources said the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received a call about the fight and when paramedics and police rushed to the spot they found the three teens bleeding from their wounds. The suspects have been referred to the Jahra Police Station.

Mother, 3 kids rescued: Acting on information firemen from the Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh fire centre rushed to a commercial mall in the area and rescued a mother and her three children who were trapped inside the elevator, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily did not give more details. ❑ ❑ ❑ Drugs, liquor found on man: A security hunting lasted for half an hour led to the arrest of a citizen who was driving a four-wheel, having on his possession 3 local liquor and 5 bags containing narcotic substances, reports Al-Rai daily
