Customs foils police officer’s bid to smuggle in QR 650,000

KUWAIT CITY, July 16: Customs officers at the Kuwait International Airport recently foiled an attempt by a police Lieutenant Colonel to smuggle 650,000 Qatari riyals (equivalent KD 50,000) into the country, reports Al-Seyassah daily. A security source said he is accused of money laundering. It has been reported the money was hidden in one of the bags. The money and the officer have been referred to the State Security.

Citizen shot in leg: An unidentified individual shot a 26-year old Kuwaiti citizen in his right thigh in Jahra stables area. According to security sources, the Kuwaiti citizen was admitted in Jahra Hospital where he underwent surgery to remove the bullet from his right thigh. He explained to securitymen that the shooter was an acquaintance whom he knew only by the first name. They went together to Salmi stables in his vehicle. The suspect pulled out a pistol, shot him on his thigh and tried to steal KD 900 from him. The suspect then fled from the location in a white vehicle without number plate which was driven by another individual. A case was registered and investigations are ongoing to find and arrest the suspect.

Syrian boy kidnapped: A 20-year old Syrian expatriate was kidnapped by ten others and assaulted in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area. According to security sources, the victim went to the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Police Station in torn clothes and with a medical report. He informed securitymen that ten Syrians kidnapped him while he was standing in front of the building where he stays with his family. They took him to a lot where they attacked him. He indicated that he recognized three of the suspects and gave securitymen details about them.

The three suspects were arrested and investigations are ongoing to find the rest. A case has been registered. Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti woman informed Qurain Police Station that her ex-husband kidnapped her five children. Investigations are ongoing to find the man and the children.

Bedoun youth assaulted: Four Kuwaiti citizens stormed the apartment of a Bedoun youth in Salmiya area and mugged him, leaving the victim in a pool of blood. Apparently, the youth was surprised when he heard a knock on the door and answered it, and out of the blue, four youths attacked and started beating him. He said the youths escaped after he fell on the ground and a co-tenant called the Operations Room to report the episode, but he recognized one of them.

In the meantime, a team of rescue men rushed to the scene accompanied by paramedics to refer the bleeding Bedoun youth to the Mubarak Hospital for treatment. Later on one of the suspects was arrested, and he confessed the other three partners in crime are also Kuwaitis. He also said the Bedoun was beaten because of previous dispute. A case was registered.
