8th Ring Road project cancelled

KUWAIT CITY, July 15: The Assistant Undersecretary for Public Roads Engineering Sector at the Ministry of Public Works Ahmad Al-Hassan was recently quoted as saying the agreement for the study and design of the Eighth Ring Road has been cancelled because the project falls in the pathway of the Burgan Oilfield pipeline, reports Al-Qabas daily. The official affirmed the consultant who is responsible for the design has to come up with an alternative path. He said the road linking Wafra with Mina Abdullah is an appropriate alternative for the Eight Ring Road.

However, the approval for this has to come from the Council of Ministers. Al-Hassan said the Roads Engineering Sector at the moment has on its hands 39 projects. He also said the ministry has completed work on many projects. He disclosed 97 per cent of the work on Sixth Ring Road leading to Jahra has been completed while 20 percent of the work on the Jaber Bridge project has been completed.
