Asian gang minting money at traffic dept Municipality takes steps to reacquire KD 7m

KUWAIT CITY, July 14: Director of Legal Department at Kuwait Municipality Mohammad Al-Jasser says the department has taken necessary legal measures for reacquiring the compensation of about KD 7 million which was paid to a real-estate company. In a press statement, Al-Jasser explained that communication is being carried out to address the concerned authority about reacquiring the compensation as per the verdict issued by the Cassation Court. He said the Cassation Court had issued the verdict in favor of Kuwait Municipality after overturning the verdict of the Court of Appeals, which had obligated Kuwait Municipality to pay KD 6,702,000 and a monthly compensation of KD 68,080 in favor of the real-estate company.  He explained that the case was regarding the use of public land, adding that the company was denied utilizing it as per the agreement with the concerned authorities.
Gang minting cash: A gang of Asians is reportedly making a brisk business at the General Traffic Department for exchanging the new currency with old bills because the revenue stamps machines do not accept the new bank notes, reports Annahar daily. The daily added the gangsters are charging a little more than the face value ‘for their services’.
Man robs mother: The Mubarak Al-Kabir police have arrested a lance corporal working for the Emergency Patrols Department of the Interior Ministry for stealing two Iphones and one iPad belonging to his mother and five cell phones from different shops, reports Al-Anba daily. Security sources said the arrest came when the suspect’s mother filed a complaint with the police accusing an unidentified person of stealing her personal belonging. Police also received complaints from five salesmen and the owners of the shops all of whom said the man claimed he wanted to buy a cell phone and after distracting the salesmen escaped with the phone. The daily without going into details said the suspect was arrested with the help of the GPS technology. During interrogation the suspect admitted to stealing the phones and using the money to buy drugs.
Kuwaiti held: Personnel from the Mubarak Al-Kabir Security Directorate have arrested a 42-year-old Kuwait who was wanted by the Sentences Enforcement Department for issuing dud cheques, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily quoting security sources said police acting on information set a trap for the man and caught him while he was about to leave his home. He has been handed over to the concerned authorities. Meanwhile, Securitymen are looking for two unidentified persons for impersonating police and robbing KD 360 from an Asian, reports Al-Rai daily. The Asian told the Sulaibikhat police the men approached him while he was parking his vehicle and demanded to see his ID. The men then told him to empty his pockets and place the contents on the hood of the car following which they grabbed the money and escaped. The victim has given police the car plate number.
