Two firms attempt to smuggle out 400,000 liters of subsidized diesel

KUWAIT CITY, July 12: Customs officers at the Shuwaikh Port thwarted a plan by two undisclosed companies to smuggle 400,000 liters of subsidized diesel outside the country, reports Al- Watan Arabic daily. It is said subsidized diesel in 33 containers was to be exported to India on forged documents which specified the item as ‘used cartons’. Sources said the quantity of confiscated diesel is worth KD 20,000 in Kuwait, which would have been sold for KD 250,000 outside the country.

Interpol arrests Egyptian: Kuwaiti Interpol arrested an Egyptian man identified as KH.A who is wanted in Egypt and had been sentenced in absentia for his involvement in damaging State facilities and killing police officers in the province of Menya last year, reports Al-Anba daily. The arrest was based on the request of the Egyptian counterpart. The suspect came to Kuwait in September 2013.
