Japan, Mexico end match in a tie as Kuwait, France, Germany suffer heavy defeats Austria, Canada, America thrash rivals

KUWAIT CITY, July 11: Day two of the American Football U-19 World Championship match up ended with a lot of zeros on the board, and the Kuwaiti national team were sadly amongst the ones that ended with the number zero. Under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the 2nd day of the world championship kicked off with 4 matches in the schedule, Canada vs France and Austria vs Kuwait who played at Al-Nasr Sports Club, while Japan went against Mexico and America went against Germany at the Salmiyah Sports Club.

With 0 points for Kuwait and 64 for Austria, Kuwait suffered yet another heavy defeat in the championships, but even towards the last minutes of the game, both the Kuwaiti team and its supporting crowd maintained their high spirits. The Kuwaiti team performed admirably on defense during the 1st and 2nd quarter, but fell behind during the 3rd and 4th due to the difference in stamina between the Kuwaiti team and the Austrian, who maintained a strong performance throughout the whole game.

Another zero appeared on the board as Canada defeated France 56 to Zero, making France the 2nd team that Canada prevented from scoring any points in a match. Both winners will be pitched against each other on day 3 of the championship, which will take place this Sunday the 13th, deciding who will go to the finals. In a press conference after the match, head coach of the French team Oliver Moorey expressed his gratitude to Kuwait and the efforts put into organizing the championship, adding that he is satisfied with his team’s performance, considering they were against Canada, winner of the last championship. In his turn, head coach of the Canadian team Warren Craney expressed his happiness of winning the match, which he considers a step closer to winning the title once again.

Meanwhile, Canada’s defense coach affirmed that both teams suffered due to the heat during the match, confirming that playing at night was a good call on behalf of the managing team and the best option, which he described as a testimony to Kuwait’s brilliant management of the championship. He went on to say that the Kuwaiti team performed with high spirits, but they need to keep it up and concentrate their talents into accumulating more experience, which will require patience and consistency, hoping that they will one day reach high levels of performance. On the other hand, at the Salmiyah Club, where the American team was playing against the German, America scored 54 points while Germany was not able to change the number on the board from zero, making it the 3rd zero of day two.

After suffering a defeat against America, Mexico refused to suffer another one, as they played vigorously against Japan, but due to Japan’s determination to maintain their winning streak, they also refused to loose the match, which lead to the match ending with a 24 point tie. In the press conference held after the game, Mexico’s head coach Javier Lorenzo asserted that he is satisfied with the outcome of the match, considering they were 6 points down on the last 45 seconds of the game, when they scored the last touchdown which tied them with Japan.
