89 held in massive raids

KUWAIT CITY, July 10: The General Immigration Department launched an intensive security campaign in Kheitan, Dajeej, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Jleeb Industrial Area and Farwaniya under the supervision of Assistant Undersecretary for Passports and Citizenship Affairs Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarah, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The campaign resulted in the arrest of 89 persons wanted by law for their involvement in different cases, violation of the Residency Law and theft. Al-Jarah explained the campaign in the entire Farwaniya Governorate is aimed at preventing the spread of negative phenomena. He affirmed they will continue conducting such campaigns to track down criminals and maintain public order. Meanwhile, the Security Media Department disclosed there is a plan to continue security and traffic campaigns in all governorates to apprehend those who violated the Residency Law and those involved in various cases.

8 expats caught begging: The Director-General of the General Administration for Criminal Investigations Major-General Mahmoud Al-Tabakh has referred eight expatriates - five Arabs and three Asians - to the Administrative Deportation Department after they were caught begging for alms after Iftar, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily added some of them, women, were accompanied by their children. Security sources said begging for alms in Kuwait during Ramadan is banned by law and violators of this law face immediate deportation.
