Traffic Dept and Securitymen launched massive raids to arrest reckless drivers
Copters used to track down law-breakers on Salmi Road Criminal gangs among 152 reckless drivers arrested

KUWAIT CITY, July 10: Ahmadi securitymen launched intensive security campaigns on Artal Road, Salmi Road and Ahmadi livestock pens after pictures of hundreds of youths accompanied with girls driving recklessly from Artal Road until the livestock pens in Ahmadi area had circulated on social networking websites. They arrested 152 reckless drivers and seized 50 vehicles from Artal Road.

According to security sources, the campaign, which included the use of helicopters, was carried out based on directives from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Acting Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al- Khalid, Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Lt General Sulaiman Al-Fahad and Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali.

High-ranking officials had participated in the campaigns in Salmi area, Ahmadi livestock pens and Artal Road along with the Public Security Sector, traffic and control sector, Air Force, Security Media Department and Medical Emergency Department. Besides arresting 152 reckless drivers and seizing 50 vehicles, Ahmadi securitymen arrested 82 individuals and seized 20 vehicles on Salmi Road. They also arrested 70 individuals and seized 30 vehicles in Ahmadi livestock pens and Wafra area. Some of the arrested individuals were involved in a number of cases while some others possessed sharp objects and pills suspected to be narcotic.

Security Media Department affirmed that Ministry of Interior is keen on continuing such security and traffic campaigns in all governorates of the country to arrest those who do not abide by the rules and regulations.
