Girls among youths held for ‘car drifting’ on Salmi Road ‘Crazy’ young motorists

KUWAIT CITY, July 8: Several hours after the publication of pictures of people driving recklessly along Artaal Road, officers from Jahra Security Command conducted intensive traffic and security campaigns in the early hours Tuesday.

The campaign led to impounding of 33 vehicles used by reckless drivers, recovery of eight stolen vehicles and the arrest of a youth who appeared to be under the influence of drugs. According to security sources, the Operations Room received reports about the reckless drivers who blocked Artaal Road in Salmi and majority of them were youths who were into car drifting, in addition to eating in public during Ramadan fasting hours. Security and traffic teams rushed to the scene to handle the situation.

They confiscated a number of vehicles, issued 170 citations, and removed metals and sharp objects left on the road by the crowd, including girls, as they fled from the scene. Sources confirmed the security agencies will continue monitoring Artaal Road to apprehend those involved in car drifting and racing, as well as those who disrupt public order.

‘Crazy’ young motorists: Two Kuwaiti youths and four young expatriates were arrested for reckless driving and committing other violations during an unlicensed demonstration that was recently held in Sabah Al-Nasser area, reports Al- Seyassah daily. According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Interior, the Security Media Department explained that the youths were using their vehicles to knock down innocent bystanders and damage public utilities during the demonstration. They were driving recklessly such as speeding, driving on pavements, etc which almost caused accidents. The department revealed that the youths were arrested and referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal investigations while four vehicles were seized out of which one of them has a Saudi number plate.
