Unknown owner of Instagram account offended religions Instagram account titled ‘Iran’ closed

KUWAIT CITY, July 8: The Cybercrime Section of the General Department for Criminal Investigations announced that an ‘Instagram’ account has been closed due to its violations of some terms and conditions of the ‘Instagram’ social networking website. This announcement was made through the department’s ‘Twitter’ account in which it explained that it had addressed the Instagram administration regarding the violations committed by the account, adding the administration responded by deleting the account after confirming the violations.

According to security source, the account titled ‘Iran’ was operated from a foreign country because of which Kuwait’s cyber law was not applicable. The unknown owner of the account offended religions particularly Islam by publishing photographs that are deemed offensive to Islam and clips showing the Quran being set on fire. Prior to the closing of the account, several users of social networking websites had launched a campaign against the account ‘Iran’ by reporting the violations
