Some people using religion as cover-up for political blackmail Kuwaitis aware of deteriorating political situation

KUWAIT CITY, July 8: Former Kuwaiti diplomat Ambassador Abdul-Razaq Al- Kanderi affirmed that Kuwaitis are aware of the deteriorating political and developmental situation in the country, while confidence is low in the National Assembly, reports Al- Seyassah daily. Al-Kanderi disclosed that some people have been using religion as cover-up for political blackmail, which he stressed, contradicts the past when religion and politics were both in support of nation building.

He declared support for partisan politics, but said political parties should not be formed based on sectarian or tribal affiliation. He also said foreign interests should have no hand in the formation of political parties or even serve as branches for foreign organizations. He craved political parties that will compete according to manifestoes and political ideologies. He explained that Kuwaitis are concerned about the available political movement, but it is most important the activities of the movements would serve the public interest through national ideologies and principles.

He wondered where revolutionary action would lead the country, saying people are equally concerned about social and political instability. He recommended deep review of the past to reflect what the public want from political activism, and suggested that people should be fully aware of their responsibilities if they really desire freedom and democracy

KUWAIT CITY: Chairperson of the Arab Parliament and Speaker of Kuwait’s National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanim urged the international community to bear its political and moral responsibilities by safeguarding and protecting the Palestinian people of the atrocities and war crimes perpetrated against them, reports Al-Rai daily. In a press statement, Al-Ghanim denounced the recent barbaric assaults practiced by Israelis against the Palestinians, and called upon the international community to take up its responsibility to protect the integrity of Palestinians. He stressed collective punishment of the Israeli military against innocent Palestinians preceded by Israeli settlers should not be overlooked. Al-Ghanim affirmed that the United Nations and the Security Council must intervene at once to stop Israeli authorities from targeting unarmed Palestinians, and then come out frankly and directly to denounce the atrocities, adding ‘’the Arab-Israeli conflict will continue at all level unless Israel adheres to international resolutions and withdraw from all occupied territories to pave way for the establishment of a Palestinian sovereign state with its capital in Jerusalem”.
