Bid to raise awareness on ‘Corona’ for pilgrims Campaign launched at airport

KUWAIT CITY, July 6: Head of Media and Health Awareness Dr Ghalia Al-Mutairi announced that the committee, in coordination with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will organize a program entitled ‘Preventing Corona virus during travel and Omrah’ to increase awareness of passengers on corona virus, particularly the pilgrims of Omrah, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

In a press statement, she added the program aims at ensuring that employees at the airport are fully acquainted with medical precautions to guard against the corona virus, particularly in the season of ‘Omrah’ and Hajj, while activating their role in detecting possible cases of the contagious disease.

She further explained that the program was launched last Thursday at Kuwait International Airport and the Health Ministry has a permanent booth there for distributing leaflets to passengers to educate them about Corona virus.

Meanwhile, Director of Sabah Hospital Dr Abbas Ramadan affirmed that the number of visitors to the hospital has decreased by 50 to 60 percent since the working hours were reduced, noting a new floor has been created in the main hospital building, says Al-Seyassah

Also The Supervisor of Cleaning Contracts at Ministry of Health Wael Al-Essa announced that the number of cleaners in the ministry will soon become 19,000 after the recruitment of 3,000 new cleaners due to the opening of new facilities, reports Al-Jaridah daily. Indicating that the current number of cleaners is 16,000 as per the 2010-2013 contracts, Al-Essa explained that they will not employ more than 20 percent of the total number of required cleaners from one country. He said the ministry will engage 11 companies in the new contracts, the bidding of which will be held within the next three months, adding that the 11 selected countries are among the 36 prequalified ones that applied for the contracts. He stated that the criteria for selecting the final 11 were based on the lowest bid and ability to comply with the required specifications.
