‘Fast test’ to determine causes of infections

KUWAIT CITY, July 5: Director of Anti-Infection and Disinfection Department at the Ministry of Health Dr Haifaa Al-Mousa has confirmed the inclusion of the ‘fast test’ amongst the services in public health centers to determine the causes of infections, reports Al-Anba daily. She clarified this is part of efforts to organize the distribution of antibiotics, indicating the test will take only 10 minutes. She also unveiled a plan to include a course on antiinfection in the curricula of medicine and nursing colleges soon. She further announced that there is an agreement, in principle, to establish well-equipped disinfection sections in hospitals starting from Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital. She added the department has taken all the necessary measures to prevent the spread of corona virus. She said there is no corona virus case among workers in the health centers. She also stressed the need to conduct maintenance works at Al-Sabah Hospital, stating the Anti-Infection Department must take part in all maintenance operations and expansion or establishment of health for the good of the patients.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Health will soon supply medical laboratories with the latest and most advanced equipments worth about KD 1.250 million, which the Medical Laboratory Services Council will distribute to public hospitals and health centers, reports Al- Qabas daily quoting an informed source. He affirmed that the ministry is determined to provide equipments and medicines in an effort to improve the healthcare services for all patients, revealing that the ministry will procure medical equipments and necessary accessories worth KD 125,000 for the pediatric units.
